In January of 2009 a new and improved web hosting server has been put in place all links are now on the civilwarsignals.org domain (67.211.66.239)
This site is anticipated to grow with information from continued research in Signal History, Genealogy, and Living History enthusiasts, as well as, additional content collected from the SCA Marley Creek Achieves.
This site is best viewed with a broadband or cable modem connection, although every effort has been made to effectively render all pages in the most efficient manor under a 56K dial-up connection.
Because of the many graphics (Animated & Highest Quality) it has been necessary to enable “graphics & page cache” on our servers, which allow the pages and graphics to be stored on the users computer (ie. “Temporary Internet Files” folder). This also allows for easy off-line reading of our webpages, if your browser is configured to do so.
It is recommended (especially dial-up users) to have cache enabled on your browser and allow a minimum of 10 MB for the cache files. (Consult your browser help files on how to do this if you experience any problems)
By doing so, you will also be able to re-visit the SCA web page without the need to re-load any basic page structures and graphics upon subsequent visits, and reduce the bandwidth used on our signal server.
As pages are added, edited, and changed, the “older” version may be cached in your “Temporary Internet Files” folder. The “newer version” of these pages may not appear until the pages “cashed” have been “refreshed”. This is done automatically, but may take a few days before you will see the new changes. (depending on the individual page-cache expiration, and the time of your last visit to a particular page).
In order to insure you are viewing the “most recent update” of a particular page or if you are experiencing problems viewing a particular graphic, press your “page re-load” browser button while holding the Ctrl (Control) key. This will re-load the entire page structure and graphics from our server for that particular page, ensuring you the most resent update.
The SCA website uses no invasive site user tracking, tracing or cookies, and installs no active programming which will effect your computers performance.
